Goodbye my friend!

My friend Tina is moving next week. She's my walking buddy--at least 15 miles per week we strut our stuff down the country roads and through the golf course. Oh, sad day to lose my walking buddy and yoga instructor in one shot. I asked if she wanted a going away gift and she decided that my bag, in different colors, would be just right for her.

My bag came from Vicki at Accio Fabric! She had made it to test a pattern, and I thoughtfully reminded her that she hadn't given me a birthday gift. We don't exchange gifts so this was my way of extending a means for her to give me the bag before I outright stole it. She acquiesced ♥  BTW, she is a finalist in the Riley Blake contest so go vote for her UPSY DAISY quilt! You can see all the finalists and vote here: or here:

The pattern is Grand Revival's Flea Market Bag. It has 2 sizes and a few strap/closure options. The one I made is about 12.5 X 12.5:

The bag on the left is mine; Tina rummaged through my fabric stash until she decided on Kaffe Fassett's Lotus, Lakehouse dots, and Kona in stone (interior) for her bag.

I added a key fob (yes!) and lots of pockets for stashing. Then, a sentiment so that she would be reminded every time she went in her purse (the bright spot is the sun):

  1. OH I have so been there losing an exercise buddy and my friends think I've deserted them after my foot surgery. Wonderful bag!

  2. Nice bag, Duff! The sentiment is sweet and she will think of everytime.
    You're a good friend.

  3. She will love it and think of you each time she uses it- you are a sweet friend. Sorry she is moving away.

  4. Your bag turned out so cute!!! I love the embroidery on the pocket. So sweet.
    Thanks for plugging my quilt!

  5. Love those bags! And I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE that apron several posts back. :D

  6. I'm sorry that you are loosing your walking buddy! I've been walking before the crack of dawn three mornings a week with a friend and some of her friends... the fact that I am scheduled to meet other people is the only thing that gets me going at that time. Maybe you can wrangle someone else to go walking with you?

I'm sure your friend will think of you all of the time as she carries her bag!

  7. cute bags! I really like that pattern... and the little touches are so great. :) What a friend.

  8. hmmmmmmm! I am sorry she is moving and I can imagine her sadness too! I dream of being your walking partner someday but we will need to practice our kegels so that I don't pee my pants the whole walk from laughing and being silly with you! The sentiments in the bag are a wonderfull touch!

  9. Hi! Greetings from Finland! Your quilts are so fantastic! It's so nice to find other quilters all around the world! :)

Thoughts become things...choose good ones♥
